03/12/2014 : Worcester Wows The Bidders

A packed saleroom awaited buyers with over 1000 Lots in our December sale and a large private collection of rare Royal Worcester generated huge interest with four phone bidders vying for the chance to own a pair of late 19th century Japanese figures by James Hadley which eventually sold for a hammer price of 2500.

Other sale highlights freateured a single vase by Harry Stinton which raised £1200 and a teapot by Brian Leaman that sold for £880.

Of particular local interest were three maquettes by Arthur Dooley, from the private collection of his son Paul, a pre-production model of “Four Lads Who Shook The World” selling for the highest price of £580. Another local piece of importance, a large 19th century Della Robbia charger with marks for Charles Collis sold for £1600.

In the toy section, many pre-war Dinky die-cast cars generated huge interest and Tri-ang “Spot-On” vehicles proved their popularity once again when 2 articulated Thames Trader wagons sold for £230
