01/07/2015 : Turning Up The Heat
Despite sweltering heat during the hottest July day on record, the sale opened with a room full of potential bidders all keen to see a wide variety of items go under the hammer.
A lovely late 19th century walnut Loo table sold for £820 and proving that the demand for quality furniture is still strong a large circular mahogany dining table previously from the Cunard Building in Liverpool made a very respectable £780 and a good untouched example of a large 19th century four door glazed bookcase sold for £580.
In Decorative Arts, an Art Deco bronze & ivory figure by Posoreck also sold for £580 whilst in the ever popular clocks & watches section a 1969 stainless steel Rolex Oysterdate made £820, an Omega 9ct gold automatic wristwatch sold for £260 and a lovely mid 20th century carriage clock realised £420.
An excellent private collection of Moorcroft ceramics realised over £3000 with the highest single price being raised on a contemporary table lamp at £270.
In the Oriental category, two stunning ivory Japanese Meiji period okimono figures sold for £720 & £660.
