22/10/2013 : The Holy Grail of Dinky Toys......
An exceptionally rare Dinky Austin Omnisport A40 van in powder blue, believed to be produced as a prototype for the general store in El Salvador. The vendor's mother and aunt both worked in the Binns Road factory in Liverpool and purchased Dinky vehicles for his birthday and Christmas directly from the factory.
Our toy specialist Alan Colclough immediately recognised that it was a rare livery and has estimated it for the November 6th auction at £2500-£3000. Further research revealed that another example was sold on June 8th 2009 for £6400 although the enormous amount of feedback we have already have had already casts doubt that the example sold was genuine. "Everyone I have spoken to so far has marveled at the discovery and everyone who has seen it has confirmed that it is indeed genuine and The Holy Grail of Dinky Toys" said Alan.
The auction is at the Liverpool Saleroom on Wednesday 6th November starting at 10am, and the Van will be offered around 12 noon.
This auction also welcomes ITV's Dickinson Real Deal, as well as having a section of rock and pop memorabilia. This section sees an incredible collection of signed memorabilia including a fedora signed by Michael Jackson, and a Motown Story boxed set signed by dozens of the acts and formally owned by the godfather of Motown - Berry Gordy.
