04/09/2015 : Telephones Go Mad
Just like London Buses, you can wait years for valuable collectors’ item to come along – and then you get two in the same sale! A rare jade green vintage telephone model 328CB and an almost identical 332L were consigned by separate vendors and this really was an ‘engaging’ if not ‘ringing’ endorsement of how well specialist items can be received by the market when each lot sold for £440.
Another surprising result was ‘generated’ by the sale of medical equipment which included a vintage electric shock therapy device, selling for an ‘electric’ £300.
Elsewhere in the sale an eleven stone marquise diamond ring fetching £640, a collection of tribal photographic postcards made £480 and a lovely Victorian coromandel vanity box went under the hammer for £290.
The camera section featured one of the smallest cameras made for general use, the aptly named Coronet ‘Midget’ realising a ery respectable £260, just beating a lovely example of a Sanderson quarter-plate camera at £230.
Our next sale is on October 7th and features a specialist maritime section. If you would like to enter items for this, or for any other enquiries please call the team on 0151 709 8070.
