A roundup of results from our November Rock and Pop auction
We had a great sale last week, with lots of bidders attending in the room, as well as online and over the phone, which led to some fantastic results.
Our furniture lots kicked us off to a good start, with this pair of 19th century Aesthetics walnut fold over card tables bringing £1,050, an oak Arts and Crafts hall stand selling for £620 and a large George III mahogany elevated bookcase achieving £480.
Our jewellery lots sold exceedingly well, with this beautiful Belle Époque diamond and platinum choker selling for £6,200 after furious competition from phone bidders. A Victorian 18ct gold coiled serpent ring brought £480, a 9ct white gold mounted jade panel bracelet sold for £540 and a cherry amber-style necklace with large beads sold for £320. Silver also performed well, with two late 19th/early 20th century silver cutlery canteens bringing £2,000 and £800 respectively.
Highlights of our painting lots included this oil on canvas by Horace Fisher, which sold for £660, a Continental School oil on canvas which also brought £660 and an oil on board by Millicent E Ayrton A.M.B.E., which sold for £380.
Top of the pops for our Rock and Pop items were three lots of 1950s-1980s LPs, which sold for over £300 each and this set of four Richard Avedon Beatles portrait posters, c1968, which brought £210.
Elsewhere in the sale, a set of seven Chinese porcelain plaques with painted and enamel decoration sold for £600, a late 19th century Lancashire Police truncheon decorated with the Lancashire rose and the three lion sigil brought £460, a vintage 9ct gold gentlemen's Omega Seamaster wristwatch sold for £460 and a large collection of vintage football and rugby programmes sold for £420.
Our next auction is Antiques and Collectors' Items with Toys, Wines and Spitrits, on Wednesday 5th December 2018 at 10.00, with viewing on Tuesday 4th December from 10.00-20.00. The deadline for consignment for this auction is Wednesday 21st November.
