13/06/2018 : June Auction Highlights
A roundup of results from our June auction
We had a fantastic auction last week, with over one thousand lots and some great results. The star lot of the auction was this violin marked to body 'E & P Voigt London' with paper label to interior inscribed 'Szepedssy Bela London 1913'. It soared past its estimate to bring £5,500 after fierce competition from several online and phone bidders.
Our watch section also did well, with this Jaeger le Coultre British military issue wristwatch bringing £3,600 and a Tiffany & Co crown-wind travel clock/watch selling for £540.
There were lots of highlights in our jewellery setion, including this platinum and diamond-set solitaire ring which brought £1,200, a demi-parure of yellow metal Victorian-style jewellery sold for £92, several charm bracelets sold very well and a 9ct rose gold chain, with a 9ct rose gold and enamel medallion for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Ball Committee brought £480.
Elsewhere in the sale, this Victorian hallmarked silver casket sold for £1,050, a sabre with cream painted grip and a dress/presentation type sword with Austro-Hungarian double-headed eagle motif brought £940, a 19th century Chinese Canton tortoiseshell snuff box fetched £720 and A Hoffman Rosenheim propeller (af), length 189cm and a 1940s nylon seat MKII 15a/556 parachute sold for £680.
