12/12/2017 : December Sale Highlights

Highlights from our December auction

Our last sale of the year was a great success, with a packed saleroom in great spirits leading to some fantastic results.

The star lot was this Tag Heuer Carrera watch, which soared past its estimate to reach £4,800. Also in the watch section, a 14ct gold Elgin full hunter pocket watch also did well, reaching £560 and in the jewellery section, an 18ct gold and diamond Dilmun Seals necklace brought £680.

Our Wines and Spirits did very well, with this MacAllan Anniversary Malt Whisky selling for £4,100, a Bowmore 1779-1979 Bicentenary Islay whisky sold for £1,400 and a Glengrant 42-Year-Old Highland Malt Scotch whisky brought £520.

Table Screen

Our Oriental section was well-represented, with highlights including a late 19th/early 20th century Chinese ivory scholars' table screen which brought £740, a 19th century Japanese Tokyo school ivory figurine, 'The Basket Seller' which sold for £500 and a well-carved 19th century Chinese carved ivory figure of a sleeping scholar/Li Bai, which also brought £500.

Elsewhere in the sale, this beautiful 19th century silk and stump work sampler brought £900 and an oil on canvas by Gordon Ellis of a shipping scene on the River Mersey with Liverpool skyline to background sold for £620.

Our next sale is THURSDAY January 4th 2018 - Antiques & Collectors' Items

We hope to see you there!
