03/08/2018 : August Auction Highlights

A selection of highlights from our August sale

We had another packed saleroom on Wednesday, with the presence of David Dickinson and his Real Deal crew adding to the excitement in the room. Their items had some great results, including a life-sized model of an armoured horse and knight which sold for £500.

Our ceramics section did well, with this beautiful Shelley 'Sunset & Flowers' pattern six-setting tea service selling to a phone bidder for £640 and an 18th century Leeds cream ware teapot, with three coffee pots and a milk jug sold for £420.

There were lots of highlights in our silver section too, including this wonderful Art Deco octagonal silver salver which brought £440 and a William IV hallmarked sterling silver entrée dish by SW & Co, with retailer's mark 'Wordley & Mayer' and monogram 'T' for Colonel Robert Trimble, on original Old Sheffield Plate hot water stand, which sold for £1,100.

A collection of audio equipment also brought good results, with a Linn Sondek LP12 Valhalla with Aframosia fluted plinth with black Ittok LVII tonearm, with a Linn Asak cartridge and a Sound Organisation turntable bringing £840 and a Naim Flatcap power supply, a Naim 92 pre-amplifier and a Naim 250 Power Amplifier with Naim cables selling for £600.

Elsewhere in the sale, this late 19th century Zanzibar walnut studded mule chest sold for £540, a Sewills mahogany and glazed cased observatory regulator brought £740, an Arthur Dooley bronze and wrought iron sculpture, 'Veronica', sold for £940 and an 18ct gold diamond solitaire ring with approx 2ct of diamond sold for £1,350.
